New Home Contract Options

At Don Collins Builder, Inc. we have two types of construction agreements available, each with its own specifications depending on our clients’ preferences.

Fixed Sum Contract

an agreement between the purchaser and the contractor to provide the labor, materials, overhead and profit according to the plans and specifications in exchange for a fixed sum of money. An agreed-upon deposit is paid before work commences, with the remainder paid at the completion of the project. Any modifications made during the course of the project are generally handled by a written change order.

Cost-Plus Contract

an agreement between the purchaser and the contractor to provide the labor and building materials according to the plans and specifications, along with a specified percentage fee for overhead and profit of the actual construction cost of the project. With this agreement, an agreed-upon percentage deposit is paid initially, and the purchaser is billed monthly for the actual costs of all labor and materials used during that time period, plus the remaining percentage fee.

With either construction agreement, Don Collins Builder, Inc. works diligently with our clients, keeping them apprised of the actual cost being incurred verses the established budgets throughout the entire construction process.
