Realizing the Dream

This is the first step to turning your dreams into reality. You have an ideal in mind, and we believe anything short of that ideal is unacceptable. In our initial meeting we will determine the style of home you desire, the number of bedrooms, baths and garages, and an array of additional variables catered to your liking. Do you have a particular square footage in mind, or a budget to follow? Have you always yearned for a spacious basement, or maybe a few laps in the morning around your swimming pool? Choosing Your Lot

At Don Collins Builder, Inc., we offer you the ability to build your new custom home on your own lot or on a home site that we currently own. We can also assist you in finding and purchasing the perfect home site if you have not previously done so.

Each home site has its own individual characteristics and opportunities. Once we have determined our goals, a site should be chosen to accommodate your family’s desires, whether it be in a subdivision with pool and tennis courts, or a secluded site with privacy and space. Once this has been determined, we can begin the design of your new custom home.

Designing Your Custom Home

Deciding on the style of home you want to build is crucial. Your home should fit you and your family, both in size and in personality. Don Collins Builder, Inc. guides you securely through this phase, which involves the architectural and engineering design of the entire project. By staying abreast of the most recent homebuilding trends and construction products available today, our professionals give you a distinct advantage of our expertise and past experiences during the design phase. Together the owner, designer, and builder work cooperatively in the total overall development of the project. Customizing your home to fit your lot involves much consideration. Orientation and desired views, setbacks and location, typographical and slope issues all play a part in the design and cost of construction. By being involved early in the design phase, our team can give invaluable information that will save time and money.

Cost Analysis

Once the preliminary plans are complete, our team will provide a cost analysis to our clients to ensure the project maintains the desired budget determined at our introductory meeting. This gives us the opportunity to take an overview of the project and determine if revisions need be made, or if we can move forward with the design and engineering.

Specifications and Estimating

With the plans nearing completion, our team will coordinate with you to develop the interior and exterior specifications. The more detailed the specifications, the more accurate our cost estimate. Project cost and time control begin during this phase.
